Artetetra is a DIY cassette label from Italy.
ATA01
About the tape:
I must admit an excellent and faultless selection of new sounds that circumvents the spectrum sublimely ever from the weird and strange to the mellowed and the mind weaving
The Sunday Experience:
[ marklosingtoday.wordpress.com/2014/12/15/exotic-esoterique-volume-1-2/ ]
The selections leap from occult goofiness that feels very true to the spirit of Rock In Opposition to ethereal atmospheres, making for an eclecticism that falls into order according to a logic of its own, as we all know experimental music ideally should

About the tape:
"Tirabasso’s spooky psych-drone is a fitting mate for the strange mixture of religious iconography and leprous human faces in the film’s imagery. Highly recommended to anyone else who thought that the cavernous krautrock doom of Expo 70’s Death Voyage was brilliant as hell."

my goddess has a crazy bush vol. 1 (c60)
Protesting the current trend of “bare down there”, promoting the natural look.
This isn’t so much about promoting a fetish for hairy pussies as it is a protest against a culture that tells women their bodies are dirty, ugly, and unfeminine and that they have to spend time, energy and money to make themselves acceptable. We’re using pubic hair to represent the whole issue. We certainly support the rights of women to sport armpit hair, leg hair and freakin’ moustaches if they wanna.
ATA03
About the tape:
The ArteTetra Collective are doing something really cool, and really important – and pulling it off admirably.

BABAU - PAPALAGI (C60)
Papalagi is the title of the new ep by Babau. With this work, the duo tries to summon exotic sounds from purely invented places and sacred rites to which they would be afraid to participate.Deconstructing the exotic sonorities and languages through imagination and recoding them in a very strained and bizarre way, Papalagi arrives to put together the smoking Rano Kau during equatorial storms, the molam orchestras from Laos and two young boys from the marchigian hills experimenting with a shortwave radio.
What comes out is a promiscuous pot pourri of themes, rhythms and harmonies borrowed from different etnies to which the duo doesn't belong to. The research of a different familiarity to the one inherited by the white man becomes a synthetis through which the duo moves, seizing everything and belonging to nothing.
ATA04
Tracklist: Palo Majombe // Faus // Ila 'no Kuaili // Palma Hayek //
Released on February 28, 2015
About the tape:
"Papalagi, however, reverses this kind of escapism by torturing the listener with its uneasy yet imaginative architecture. Don't you dare escaping into the world of Papalagi! You better take flight from this luring-recalcitrant tape if you can!"
Ambient exotica
http://www.ambientexotica.com/exorev419_babau_papalagi/
"Papalagi EP is like scanning through innumerable, traditional, pan-global music channels, hand-drummed rhythms complementing ethno-psyche rumbles and sounds taken straight from nature."

Nicola tirabasso//Valerio maiolo - Landscape suicide (split c60)
Landscape suicide is the fifth tape produced by Artetetra, protagonists are Nicola Tirabasso (already in VHS for the same label with "Soundtrack for Acarino Galaico") and Valerio Maiolo (Sex with Giallone - Trovarobato / performer in the electroacoustic ensemble led by Francesco Giomi) the two of the artists, in their new production, propose an essential deconstruction of the languages already used in the most known and classic popular music history like field recordings, spoken word, drones, conventional armonic structures and instruments. With a mix of minimal beats, unexpected and refined sonic hints and a progressive dilution of ambient and drone interactions Valerio Maiolo and Nicola Tirabasso give us the possibility to reconsider, not only the elements of the ordinary, but also their approach as an accidental unity to constantly recombine making their two music sessions like lysergic, liquid and 800% slowed compositions of blues and classic music.

[Side B] Landscape suicide (принцессы не какают) | Valerio Maiolo
About the tape:

BABAU - PAPALAGI special reprint (c60)
MOON Ra & NICOLa CORTI - E.S.P. (C60)
These trackS are based around the concept of THE SLEEP. ... The perception and the awareness in dreams are free, with no brakes! In the same way here the sounds are left free.
Moon RA and Nicola Corti use sounds from acoustic instruments, effects, tapes, walkmans, reel to reel recorders, modular synth and more, to work on the perception of the listener, inviting people to compose and decompose sounds by themselves, diamonds from coal, and vice versa, making them participate with emotions.
In "E.S.P." the sound rebels itself in his environment like awareness rebels in sleep. The dreamer (that is the musician) should abandon himself/herself at its flow offering just a light resistance.
Enjoy this Sleep!
ATA06
About the tape:
"E.S.P. captures the contrast of darting, fidgety movements with an ocean of static laden slow motion perfectly, conjuring up the same maelstrom of sense that comes from being overtired and drawn into sleep. 9/10"

Kink gong - erhai fl0ating sound (c60) |
In this one hour session named Erhai Floating Sound, performed and recorded live by Laurent on a quadraphonic concert at the lake Erhai in China in 2010, the musician creates a genuine and indigenous soundscape assembling field recordings and sounds that show his deep research on China's most iconic and remote musical roots while opening a sight on an ethnic contemporary experimentation.
ATA07 About the tape: "It veers between blissfully ambient to artfully abstract via musique concrete on a par with Pierre Schaeffer et al. It is not music to put on at dinner parties or to throw in the car's cassette deck - it is music that cries out to be Listened to. Challenging...yes, but brilliantly realised and constructed. It is a truly beautiful piece of music."
The tape, released together with Old Bicycle Records, is a new work by Futeisha aka Juan Scassa (guitarist of La Piramide di Sangue and collaborator of Craxi Driver, Krano, Gianni Giublena Rosacroce and others) named Alegrias y duelos de mi alma.
The tape is a mixture of tender and warm sounds and melodies from the most original latin tradition rearranged thanks to digital, tribal drums and ambient sounds tending to their most droning soundscapes. In this work Futeisha obtains a really lyric and moody atmosphere fusing the mariachi and spanish guitars with solemn spoken words and eerie musical hints ranging from filmic slow rhythms to groovy minimal ballads. The result is a charming and elegant lysergic Lynchian-style telenovela.
ATA08
About the tape:
"Don’t be fooled, ‘Alegrias y duelos de mi alma’ is far from a casual listening experience. It’s layered, moody, and often ghostly, never quite settling and always searching for the next abstract corner to take, but it’s also deeply captivating and unashamedly bold, breathing truth and life into each moment and unequivocally living up to its title"
Anthem Review
"It is a wonderful album, full of personality and charisma; it takes the listener to the sunny countryside of the Mediterranean, albeit a countryside haunted by the ghosts of years gone by"

tetuan // lay llamas split tape (C60)
"Lay Llamas are pretty much legends; their shamanic psychedelia has taken in funk, afro and all manner of ethnic elements. Over the space of 2, pretty amazing, albums proper they have grown in both stature and both their fanbase and reputation have grown accordingly. On the split tape with Tetuan, the Llamas contribute one 20min track - 'The Big Calm Sea Of The Transition' and it is a corker! The track was written, recorded and produced by Nicola Giunta/Lay Llamas, with Giunta on synthesizer, acoustic and electric guitar, bongos, djembé, cymbal, percussions, flute. Guests are Andrea Davì (bodhràn, bongos, drums, lali drum, indian bells) and Marco Bernacchia (vocals, lead and percussion, acoustic guitar). It begins with a continuous drone before a distinctly exotic flute gives proceedings an positively Saharan vibe. The introduction of ethnic percussion adds to this exotic feel and the melange of synths and drones lends a contemporary air. Over the course of the 20 minutes time seems to stand still and I swear I could feel the Sirocco blowing over me....this has got to be one of the standout tracks of the year...it ebbs and flows like a diamond flecked stream and is hypnotic to the point of inducing hypnagogic hallucinations....beautiful and simply stunning stuff. Tetuan are another Italian combo, not as well known as Lay Llamas but, in my view, just as talented. The band comprise of Cristiano Coini (bass, keyboards), Edoardo Grisogani (drums, sampler), Luigi Monteanni (guitar, clarinet) and Matteo Pennesi (keyboards, synth). They contribute 2 tracks to this split, the first of which is 'JuJu' - a driving track with an irresistible bassline and some pretty damned cool drumming. It incorporates some ethnic elements which mixes things up a bit but this is primarily a surging psych track full of attitude. The second track 'Lame Rosse' is different again, beginning with some celestial harmonies over some primal percussion before some mournful synths add an almost retro Giallo feel to things. As the track progresses all manner of flourishes and ethnic sounds are added over that metronomic rhythm. It comes across like a mix of krautrock and Italian Occult Psychedelia....another outstanding track. I find it almost criminal that Tetuan aren't 'bigger' outside of Italy...on this showing alone they would garner a sizeable fanbase elsewhere. This split tape is fantastic!"

holypalms - jungle judge
After some works based on exotic melodies with lo-
electronic drums as rhythm machines, in this new album Pavel makes
less guitar virtuosism and more attention on crazy contemporary
(sometimes even grimey) rhythms that makes the listener travel from
the jungle into the sweaty russian dancefloor. No emotional kalimbas,
neither soulful reeds, if there'll ever be a jungle version of Mad Max,
this would be the right soundtrack!
ATA10
About the tape:
Pavel Eremeev is an artist based in Moscow and a member of Middle-Eastern tinged band uSSSy. Under his solo guise as Holypalms, Eremeev hooks his quarter-toned guitar up to his laptop to make some pretty gritty and relentless music, riding all manner of West African, and South Asian rhythms. His background in complex compositions with uSSSy seems to have really opened up the amount of detail and sheer number of sections and interleaving tracks of distorted Eastern guitar licks and synthetic drum rhythms at his disposal. ‘New Monkey Forest II’ stands out as a glorious 8-minute burst of energy, the rabid guitarwork blending with a vast array of meticulously programmed jungle drums. In comparison the 12 minute ‘Stoned In The Jungle Stolen By The Liana’ is much woozier and stranger, focusing in on laptop bleeps for a simmering introduction before the guitar joins in and the entire affair weaves its way through a good half dozen peaks and troughs.
(Spool's Out - the Quietus)
Transmissions from Boshqa is the new 32 minutes album of Ak’chamel on tape format published by Artetetra. In this new album Ak’chamel work on the concept of short waves radio composing and gathering songs from afar imaginary foreign countries. The listener enters into slightly communicant musical cultural universes (Mauritanian, Turkish, Japanese, Hawaiian and others) united by the idea of exploring unknown and unrecognizable weird sonorous lands fused with radio noises and frequency modulations. The result is a complex moody trip that variates from deranged and tender musical ballads a ́ la The Waikikis and a ”Morriconian” desertic touch (Amazonica Exotica, Ancestral Incest, Bhairvi) to ritual lo-fi cultic processions and marches (Bhataka Bhuta, Processionals of Mauka) to middle-eastern epopee and eastern burial chants (Transmissions from Boshqa, The Meteorites Conjure a Prophetic Overseer). When it comes to talk about surfing black magic and to officiate obscure pagan rites in the swamps consumed by otherworldly music, unknown drugs consumption and incomprehensible formulas to offer to the elders, Ak’chamel definitively know what they’re talking about.
All tracks recorded and mixed by Ak'chamel
Graphics by Disegnini Brutti and Nicola Tirabasso
Liner notes by Alan Bishop
Released by Artetetra.

About the tape:
"It’s like your favorite cutesy acoustic lo-fi set getting fried by strings from the far east just vibrating a searing that sets the mind on fire, but on the outside: your just smiling like everything is fine and napalm-feels aren’t ripping through your psyche like acid is lacquering all nods in your head"(C monster - TMT)
"To see Ak’chamel is to experience a weird sensory experience. At times improvisational psych rock, performed in full costume, they’re about as weird as we all thought the first season of True Detective was supposed to be" (Noisey USA)

adamennon - Le nove ombre del caos
The new solo record from Adamennon expands the paths of his previous MMXII, bringing the ideas and influences of Goblin, Frizzi and Rizzati to a whole new level. Le Nove Ombre del Caos is a (never shot) horror movie which Adamennon wrote the soundtrack to. The atmosphere is drenched in insanity, terror and a malevolent black veil of craziness.
The music is heavy, a doom for the doomed, and it gives new lymph to one of the musical genres who made italian composers famous around the world.
Think of an overpowered version of Goblin, with drums triggered and rearranged in the most aggressive manner, screams that comes from the deepest womb and ancient spells.
The album is released also on CD in a gatefold cover including a poster of the original movie release by the almighty Boring Machines.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Adam Van Maledict and Maximilian Block.
Artwork by Adam Van Maledict and Maximilian Block.
ATA13
about the tape:
